After a look backward at both Creation and the Flood, the apostle Peter calls saints of God to keep looking forward.
But in keeping with His promise we are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth, where righteousness dwells. (2 Peter 3:13)
What’s behind is truthful and valuable, but its greatest value is in assuring us that what is ahead is both truthful and assured.
To those who say, “Where is the promise of His coming?” (v. 4), we say, “It is as assured as what He has already done!”
So we can…
- live godly and holy lives today (v. 11)
- trust God’s promises and keep His commands today (v. 12)
- make every effort to be found, spotless, blameless, and at peace with God today (v. 14)
So then, dear friends, since you are looking forward to this, make every effort to be found spotless, blameless and at peace with Him. (2 Peter 3:14)
