Swirling Thoughts

Brain scan

Lots of thoughts swirling through my brain. I read a variety of books, I check a lot of websites and blogs, and I listen to a lot of podcasts of people way smarter than me. Just thought I’d share with you a couple of things I’m reading, checking and listening to.

Lars Brownworth is an excellent historian. He relates history like it’s a novel. I’m currently subscribed to his podcast on the Norman Centuries. I also thoroughly enjoyed his podcast series on the Byzantine Empire. It’s so important to learn from history, and Lars makes it fun.

Do you use RSS feeds? It’s a great way to keep up-to-date on blog posts and news. Some of the blogs I have in my RSS feed that I really look forward to reading from innovative church leaders are Mark BattersonCraig Groeschel, Perry Noble, and Chilly Chilton.

I think I have read every book that John Maxwell has written (several of them I’ve read more than once). John is doing something innovative with his latest book. Every week he is printing one chapter of his newest book on his website. Not only can you read the chapter, but you can also offer some comments. If you have something really good to say, John may include your comments or stories in the print version that’s coming out next year. Way cool! (Unfortunately I haven’t thought of anything insightful to add… yet.)

I like to keep up on the latest releases in Christian music. New Release Tuesday is the place to do that. You can subscribe to the podcast through iTunes. You’ll hear an interview with the artist and get a chance to catch some of the newest tunes.

Twitter and Facebook continue to be some of my favorite places to keep up with news from my friends and other interesting folks.

There you go. That’s what I’m checking out. If you’ve got some links I should be checking, please share them with me.
